TOUCH Home Care (THC) clinched the “Best Home Care Operator Award” at the 5th Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards Ceremony held at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre on 26 April 2017 for its excellent efforts in providing the best health and social services to support ageing-in-place. One of the many activities of the International Ageing Week in Singapore, the award ceremony recognised Asia Pacific’s care organisations that have gone the extra mile to improve health, quality of life and independence for seniors.

Graced by Finland’s Minister of Social Affairs and Health, Ms Pirkko Mattila, the awards dinner was attended by over 290 international guests and recognised some 60 organisations from 12 countries for their innovative and quality approaches to change the way the region’s older adult age, and for their contribution in shaping the future of the ageing landscape.

The winning entries were judged by a panel of industry experts in health and elderly care from Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore and The United Kingdom.

With more than 20 years of experience in geriatric care, THC is the first home care agency in Singapore to provide integrated and holistic home-based services that support the frail and homebound elderly as well as their caregivers. Working closely with TOUCH Caregivers Support, each elderly client is served in their home by a trans-disciplinary team comprising doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, senior care associates and befrienders.

Besides home medical and nursing services, THC’s team also provides housekeeping, personal hygiene services, and escort services for medical appointments. Meals are also delivered daily for lunch and dinner under the Meals-on-Wheels programme which is supported by more than 3,600 volunteers. THC operates out of three centres located in Ang Mo Kio, Jurong West and Toa Payoh. In 2016, THC served some 1,700 frail seniors.
