Job Summary:
Responsible for conducting adoption suitability assessments – including Government-Initiated Adoption (GIA) cases – providing pre and post adoption support through education, counselling and workshops. You will play a vital role in empowering adoptive families and supporting the wider adoptive community in Singapore.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Adoption Suitability Assessments
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of prospective adoptive parents’ suitability for adoption.
- Prepare and assist in writing formal Adoption Suitability Assessment (ASA) reports.
- Conduct post placement assessment reports where required.
2. GIA Case Assessments
- Carry out assessments for Government-Initiated Adoption (GIA) cases as assigned by Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).
- Ensure timely and professional documentation and recommendation for each GIA case.
3. Workshops and Education
- Facilitate and deliver adoption-related workshops including
- Mandatory Pre-Adoption Briefings
- Disclosure Workshops for Parents.
- Workshops for Adopted Children.
- Provide educational support to help families navigate the adoption journey with awareness, confidence and sensitivity.
4. Family and Adoption Placement Support
- Providing counselling and emotional support to adoptive parents and children dealing with adoption related and family challenges.
- Assist in the placement of newborns with suitable adoptive families, supporting the transition and bonding process.
- Empower families with coping strategies and strengthen their parenting journey post placement.
5. Departmental Support
- Support and facilitate activities within the Adoptive Families’ Support Group to foster community and shared learning.
- Promote peer support networks and build a strong connected adoptive community.
- Assist in departmental projects, administrative duties and other ad hoc tasks to support the goals and operation of the adoption team.

Requirements:
- Degree in Social Work, Counselling or related discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Passionate in adoption work.
- Be conversant in the adoption process, relevant documentation, eligibility criteria & key issues surrounding adoption.
- Proficient in professional reporting writing and documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with families and stakeholders.
- Skilled in group facilitation and delivering educational workshops.
- Able to plan, organise and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
