6 Symptoms of Anxiety Disorder

It is normal to feel anxious or nervous every now and then. For example, you may feel anxious about an upcoming examination or an important meeting at work.

However, if these feelings of anxiety occur frequently and escalate quickly to an intense level of fear which interferes with your daily living and is difficult to control, then you may be experiencing Anxiety Disorder.

6 Common Symptoms of Anxiety Disorder:

  1. Panic Attacks
  2. Frequent nervousness and increased heart rate
  3. Chronic fatigue
  4. Shortness of breath
  5. Trembling
  6. Having trouble sleeping

100,000 persons in Singapore suffer from anxiety disorder during their lifetime. On average, they wait for six years before seeking help. (Singapore Mental Health Study, 2010)

If you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, and notice that your anxiety and fear are keeping you from living your life normally, don’t wait till it’s too late. Seek help quickly.

Through seeking professional support, you would be able to better manage your condition. And by developing good coping techniques, you would stand a better chance at preventing future anxiety attacks.
