Aptitude is a youth engagement centre based in all three ITE Colleges. Our mission is to engage, enrich, and empower ITE youths, and prepare them for the future.
Securing Their Future
Aptitude is a youth engagement centre based in all three ITE Colleges.
Our strategy is to:
- Engage
We befriend and mentor youths through fun and engaging activities that build a positive relationship.
- Enrich
We guide youths in developing life skills such as self-awareness, relationship and communication skills, and Service-Learning.
- Empower
We provide youths with opportunities to discover their interests and increase their future options through bite-sized career tasters and training.
We also run two programmes for ITE students:
- Aptitude Buddy Club
A mentoring programme at ITE College East (since 2015) and ITE College West (since 2023) that provides an inclusive community amongst youths with different abilities and develops their strengths to make them future-ready.
- ADAPT
A class-based mentoring programme at ITE College Central (since 2018) that focuses on building students’ self-efficacy and resilience. Through a strengths-based approach, we help the youths develop confidence to pursue progression beyond their ITE studies.
Who It’s For
Our Aptitude centres are open to all ITE students aged 17 to 30.
What You Can Expect
Youths who participate in Aptitude activities can gain enrichment hours, as well as certificates and testimonials.
Centre Engagement
A safe space for youths to interact, make new friends and build a community through fun and games.
Interest Groups
Explore different industries and gain exposure to learn new skills. Interest Groups include Barista, Leadership & Adventure, Fitness and Photography.
Workshops
Develop technical skills and soft skills through our experiential learning workshops to improve inter-personal relationships. Workshops include DISC personality profiling, Relationship Management, Resume and Interview Preparation and many more.
Service-Learning
Nurture a Heart of Giving as youths are equipped with critical thinking and problem-solving skills to give back to the community.
