Financial Case Management for Lower-Income Young Adults (KitaBisa)

A two-year co-savings and case management programme for underprivileged youths to strengthen financial capability and work towards a better future for themselves.

Masthead

KitaBisa Collective: A matched savings and capability-building programme to support underprivileged youths

Many lower-income young adults are caught in a cycle of poverty, facing financial challenges that can limit opportunities and make it difficult to achieve long-term stability. Without the right support, these challenges can persist across generations.

KitaBisa seeks to help them break this cycle by building a stronger financial future through a combination of case management, financial capability-building and savings support.

Participants receive one-to-one financial literacy coaching from social workers, helping them build sound financial habits and mindsets towards financial independence. The curriculum also supports self-discovery and the implementation of practical plans to reach personal financial goals.

The programme uses a matched savings approach that recognises participants' efforts in building positive financial habits and demonstraiting financial readiness. By combining financial incentives with personalised support, KitaBisa encourages meaningful and sustainable behaviour change rather than focusing on savings alone.

Through the programme, participants work towards increased savings, healthier financial habits, stronger financial literacy and reduced risky financial behaviours such as impulse spending and gambling.
