Honouring Our Pioneers, Uplifting Their Future

Helping our seniors to dream big

As Singapore celebrates 60 years of independence, we honour the pioneer generation whose hard work and sacrifices built the foundation of our nation. This SG60, let’s give back to those who gave us so much.

Your support will go towards caring for and empowering our seniors like Mr Leong Seng Yip, 84, to age with dignity, purpose, and joy.

Mr Leong’s love for chess started five decades ago and he has never stopped playing even as he grew older. He would meet up with his friends regularly to play chess together. However, things changed two years ago when he was admitted to the hospital twice for ortho –arthritis of the knees. He was devastated and isolated himself as he was afraid of falling and hurting himself outside.

The TOUCH Home Care team first met Mr Leong through meal delivery services as his family could not see to his daily needs. Recognising his potential for recovery, the team enrolled him in the Reablement Programme in which seniors undergo personalised coaching and training with the aim of helping them regain mobility and empowering them to live more active and healthier lives.

Occupational therapists worked with Mr Leong to learn how to use motorized aid for safe travel on a daily basis. With improved mobility, Mr Leong slowly overcame his physical setbacks and started visiting his nearby Active Ageing Centre regularly.

Mr Leong is now happier, having reconnected with old friends and actively engaging in activities like karaoke, English classes, and exercise. Through these moments, he’s built strong bonds in the community he once helped shape.

Celebrate our nation’s journey by uplifting the very hands that shaped it. Your support is critical in empowering those in our care and will make a positive impact on their lives.

The funds raised will not only go toward supporting isolated seniors, it will also help to support and empower children and youth chasing their dreams, families growing to be resilient, caregivers and those they care for, and people with special and wellness needs, to unlock their full potential.
