For some four decades, Aloysious has lived in the same flat in Toa Payoh, finding comfort in the familiarity of his home and neighbourhood.
“My greatest wish is to remain in good health and live to a hundred years old,” says Aloysious with a smile. “I hope to continue living at home for as long as I can.”
Before retiring, Aloysious worked as a senior clerk at a multinational company. These days, he spends most of his time enjoying quiet moments at home and venturing downstairs now and then for coffee.
Four years ago, life took an unexpected turn when Aloysious fell at a carpark. He injured his leg and experienced other health challenges that made everyday tasks more difficult. After spending two months in a community hospital, he was referred to TOUCH’s home care services for support so that he could continue living safely and independently at home.

Today, Aloysious receives home personal care support from TOUCH Home Help four times a week. This support means a great deal to him as it means being able to keep his home clean, shower safely, attend medical appointments and run errands. He moves about at home and outdoors with a walking cane, while managing a urine catheter attached to his body.
Even with these challenges, Aloysious finds joy in the small routines that bring comfort and meaning to his days. On Sundays, he likes to go downstairs to buy food, exercise when he can, and still tries to shower on his own if he has enough strength. He also enjoys watching documentaries on YouTube on a wide range of topics.
Seniors like Aloysious can also benefit from the Government’s recent announcement of Age Well Neighbourhoods and the Enhanced Home Personal Care (HPC+), which will be piloted in Toa Payoh. The initiative will support eligible seniors with activities of daily living and strengthen community-based care, enabling them to age in place with grace and dignity.

“Now, I know I can ask TOUCH for help if I need urgent support in the future, especially late at night. This is good news for seniors,” adds Aloysious.
He is also grateful for TOUCH’s professionalism, speaking warmly of the team’s kindness and reliability. “Because they are so kind to me, I will reciprocate and be kind to them and treat them as my equal,” he says. “Without them, I will be lost!”
Whenever the team from TOUCHvisits, Aloysious welcomes them warmly, speaks to them gently and even encourages them to rest before heading off to the next home. For him, their support is not just practical help but an assurance that he is not alone in his twilight years.
With more than 30 years of experience in geriatric care, TOUCH Home Help provides a range of home and community-based services to meet the diverse needs of seniors to support ageing in community. Depending on their care needs, each senior is supported by a team comprising mainly senior care associates, medical escorts and drivers, and meals-on-wheels coordinators. Its services include mind-stimulating activities, housekeeping, personal hygiene services, meal delivery and escort services for medical appointments. In 2026, TOUCH was appointed the agency to pilot the Enhanced Home Personal Care (HPC+) in Toa Payoh, as part of the Age Well Neighbourhood initiative, led by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of National Development, and Ministry of Transport, to assist eligible seniors with activities of daily living needs.
